In This Bond film, Bond is brought on to investigate the mysterious sinking of the British battleship, the H.M.S. Devonshire which sunk somewhere in the South China Sea. Bond first tries to ask a woman who he had a relatsionship before, Paris Carver, who is now thw wife of multimedia mogul Elliot Carver, who is beginning his own worldwide news company. But, after Bond finds Paris dead at her hotel room, he begins to infiltrate Carver's press station in Germany. There, he finds where the H.M.S. Devonshire sunk. Bond travels to Vietnam where he finds the Chinese Interpol agent, Wai Lin. Both Bond and Lin discover that Elliot Carver is secretly trying to trigger a war between China and the western world, because it is a great business oppertunity for his news company. Bond and Lin have to stop Carver at all costs.
